Braces & Lingual Braces

These are devices used to align and straighten teeth  with the aim of improving a person’s bite, while also aiming to advancing, there are different types of braces (mainly ceramic/clear or metal), at The Orthodontics Centre, we would use the one that fits your style and the best method that would help give your teeth what they deserve.

Lingual braces provide patients with a discreet treatment option that is virtually invisible and effortless for them. With the increasing number of adults and teens seeking aesthetic options for orthodontic treatment, Lingual Braces is an option that is practically undetectable.

Invisalign

This is an alternative to braces which makes use of clear trays that fit over the teeth flawlessly. It is an alternative method used in orthodontic treatment of patients to gently move the teeth into alignment over time. They can be worn by both teenagers and adults.

It is easier to take care of your teeth with Invisalign since the aligner can be removed for brushing, flossing and eating. Invisalign can also be more comfortable than traditional braces since the patient does not have to worry about poking wires or loose brackets.

However, it is important that the patient wears the aligner throughout the day and night, otherwise the treatment cannot be effective. If patients are tempted not to wear their aligners on a regular basis, Invisalign may not be the best choice for them.

Retainers

These are devices that are customised either with wires or clear plastics that hold the teeth in place after the teeth have being realigned by surgery or by the use of braces. Retainers help to strengthen the teeth, hold the teeth in their position and prevent relapse from recoil or other factors such as pressures from the surrounding soft tissues.

Early Treatment

The Canadian Association of Orthodontists recommends a visit to the orthodontist around age seven. By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, which makes it easier for an orthodontist to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems and to prevent complications of malocclusion. Your Pediatric Dentist may even refer your child for a visit to the orthodontist at an earlier age if they consider it necessary.
